Fandi Mata with RARE

Fandi Mata — Brooklyn’s newest mediterranean go-to — offers an incredible selection of soulful eats and innovative drinks in an expansive and enchanting 7,000-square-foot warehouse. Steps away from McCarren Park, the restaurant blends Brooklyn industrial with the warm hospitality of the Mediterranean. Fandi Mata is derived from Romani language meaning “to connect,” and Find What’s Rare founder, Rachel Aschalew did just that with the team on their opening night. We see many nights spent at Fandi Mata in our future, and once you visit, we’re sure you will too!

Ramadan with RARE

A year after Fandi Mata’s opening, we extended our family dinner experience over Ramadan- a holiday built on self- reflection and finding fulfillment through giving to others. Find What’s Rare CEO Rachel Aschalew and NYC Journalist, Noor Tagouri, began picking up the weekly tradition of family dinners during COVID. To celebrate Ramadan and the launch of Noor’s podcast series, Rep, which embodies the messaging of this special holiday through her powerful storytelling, we used the night to connect and reflect on our own journeys and the positive intentions we wanted to put into the world. Supporting Local with RARE

To truly support local, we must first know and understand the needs of our community. That's why Find What's Rare founder Rachel Aschalew spoke, ate and shopped with five local business owners to learn what community has meant to them this year and how we can best support the city we love this holiday season. Supporting and donating local keeps New York City rare, and we'd want it no other way.

AlMar with RARE

Every year, Find What's Rare teams up with local businesses like AlMar to throw a neighborhood Holiday party. It's a night we love and look forward to and will dearly miss this year. But we couldn't let this season go by without teaming up with them again — this time to share AlMar’s (@almardumbo) story of perseverance and community support from this last year. AlMar, like many restaurants in the city this year, has fought — and continues to fight — to keep its doors open and to continue to serve its customers, leaning on the support and generosity of its neighborhood. It is our pleasure to share their story, and we hope to share good times with you all there soon!
